Contemporary Cottage Garden

The owners were fairly open to ideas for their garden. The main requests were to have a large patio, some planting and a water feature.

Inspiration for this garden came from its country setting. The designed focused on using elements of natural shapes and products.

Central to this design is a bespoke rustic arch which brings height to the garden. Two circular paved areas are adjacent to this and provide a hard surface for a table and chairs. A natural slate water feature sits on one side of the garden and a large kidney shaped lawn surrounds the rest of the space.

The garden is planted using English country perennials as well as low maintenance shrubs. The planting is made up of predominantly light green and dark purple foliage and also groundcover perennials with striking reds, purples and yellows to give it a dramatic impact over the landscape.
