Tropical and Japanese garden
The owners wanted a space that wouldn’t require a great deal of upkeep. They wanted some grass and a sheltered patio area for a BBQ stand. A large willow tree and Magnolia were to remain in this garden and provided much of the inspiration for this space.
The customers liked Japanese features as well as tropical plants. Therefore the garden was divided into two distinct areas. The Japanese area was achieved by using raised stepping stones over a bed of large ornamental cobbles. The tropical space used large architectural plants which the owner was growing in pots.
An architectural pergola sits above the Indian sandstone terrace, this will, in time, give the effect of a separate room when it is encased with climbing plants.
