Founded in 2008, Batello Garden Design has grown into a trusted and respected garden practice with deep roots in horticulture, planting design and thoughtful garden care.

For many years, Batello designed and delivered gardens across North Somerset, Somerset, Bristol and Bath, earning recognition for its planting-led approach and attention to detail.

Award-winning Landscape Gardening

Batello Garden Design continues to be led by Paul Cantello and operates on a smaller, more considered scale. The focus has shifted away from large construction projects toward plant-led garden design, soft landscaping, long term garden stewardship and expert plant advice. In 2011, Paul was awarded an RHS Silver Gilt medal for a show garden, recognising excellence in planting design and horticultural knowledge.

Alongside this plant-led approach, Batello works in collaboration with independent landscape contractor Kevin Bale on selected small scale landscaping projects, particularly where light construction supports and enhances the planting design. This ensures practical landscape elements can be incorporated where appropriate, while keeping planting at the heart of every garden.

A Plant-Led Practice, Grounded in Experience

Batello works closely with clients to create gardens that are balanced, resilient and realistic to maintain. Services include planting-led design, garden coaching and stewardship, personal plant sourcing, specialist plant supply through a developing micro-nursery, and small-scale landscaping for many of our projects.

Rather than delivering one off transformations alone, Batello supports gardens as they grow and mature, helping clients make confident decisions and create outdoor spaces that flourish over time.
