Contemporary Curves Garden

This sunny hillside garden in Shipham has been carefully brought back to life through a strong connection between materials, planting and movement through the space. Natural dressed dry stone walls anchor the garden into its setting, while warm-toned panther sandstone adds texture and subtle splashes of colour underfoot.

A gently curving path leads you on a journey through the garden, guiding you past layered planting and down towards the lawn and discreet sunken trampoline. The dry stone walls do more than shape the garden — they double as informal seating, creating places to pause, sit and enjoy the surroundings.

A circular paved area is positioned to capture the evening sun and long sunset views beyond, making it a natural gathering point at the end of the day. Planting has been carefully selected to suit the sunny aspect, with just 12 plant varieties used and planted en masse. This restrained palette creates bold sweeps of colour, texture and seasonal interest, ensuring the garden feels cohesive, calm and vibrant throughout the year.
